The Conference "Russian Parliamentarism: History, Origins and Contemporaneity" Opens in Moscow

On April 17-18, within the framework of jubilee celebrations devoted to the 20th anniversary of the RF Constitution and Federal Assembly, the conference "Russian Parliamentarism: History, Origins and Contemporaneity" was held. The session on April 17 opened with a round table devoted to one of the leaders of Russian constitutionalists of the early XX century – Alexander Guchkov.

The second day of the conference began with a discussion forum devoted to the history and modernity of Russian parliamentarism. Leading Russian historians delivered their reports on the origin of parliamentary traditions in Russia, the emergence of new political elite in pre-revolutionary Russia. Documentaries devoted to the Guchkovs dynasty and the Romanov House were demonstrated.

Chairman of the RF State Duma Education Committee and Management Board Chairman of the Russkiy Mir Foundation Vyacheslav Nikonov delivered the report "Relevant Heritage of Russian Parliamentarism" on April 18 at the conference.
