Russian Explorers Cover First 100 km of Dog Sled Trip from North Pole to Greenland

11.04.2013

Russian explorers Fyodor Konyukhov and Viktor Simonov have covered the first 100 km of their daring 4,000-km dog sled expedition from the geographic North Pole to southern Greenland, Voice of Russia reports.

The farther south they move along 55 degrees west longitude, the thinner the ice and the more open-water gaps between ice floes. The explorers are hoping to reach their destination point by the middle of June.
