Russia’s Kruzenshtern Sets Sail from Kaliningrad

17.04.2013

The legendary Russian tall ship Kruzenshtern is sailing today from Kaliningrad on this year’s first voyage. During the more than two-month trip the vessel, with 120 fisheries academy cadets on board, is to call at ports Germany, Lithuania and France, Voice of Russia reports.

The four-mast Kruzenshtern was built in Germany but handed over to the Soviet Union in 1946 and given the name of the famous Russian seafarer, Admiral Ivan Kruzenshtern. The sailing ship regularly takes part in international regattas and has twice sailed around the world.
