Rossotrudnichestvo to Increase Support for Russian-Language Media Abroad

10.04.2013

The Federal Agency for CIS Affairs, Compatriots Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) intends to step up support to Russian-language media abroad, the Agency’s Head Konstantin Kosachev said during Question Time in the State Duma on Wednesday, April 10.

“Work is currently done voluntarily. There is the fund for support of Russian-language media. This project was initiated by ITAR-TASS Board Chairman and Federation Council Member Vitaly Ignatenko. The other participating organisation is the Union of Radio Broadcasters,” Kosachev said.

“As for Rossotrudnichestvo, we have stated one more initiative and we want it to be implemented at the national level,” Kosachev said, adding that relevant proposals have been submitted to the government commission on compatriots abroad. “We expect the initiative to be considered at the commission’s nearest meeting in June of this year,” he said.
