Russia Favors Visa-Free Travel with Latin America

12.04.2013

Russia is seeking to secure visa-free travel with all countries of Latin America, a Russian foreign ministry spokesman said, Voice of Russia reports.

According to Alexander Shchetinin, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Latin America Department, some Latin American countries, including Mexico, are bound by certain commitments but this doesn’t mean that Russia won’t be able to find common language with them.

Russia has signed agreements on visa-free travel with Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, Columbia and Guyana and introduced easy visas with Surinam and Bolivia.

Alexander Shchetinin, who is currently on a working visit to Mexico, says the cancellation of visas has encouraged tourist exchanges with Latin America.
