The five-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming Anastasia Davydova was appointed as chairperson of the Council for Assistance to the Russian Olympic Committee and was appointed as one of vice-presidents of the committee, President of the Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov told reporters after a meeting of the executive committee of the Russian Olympic Committee, ITAR-TASS reports.
“We elected a new composition and Davydova was appointed as chairperson of the Council for Assistance to the Russian Olympic Committee. Under our charter, the chairperson of this council occupies simultaneously the post of the vice-president of the Russian Olympic Committee,” Zhukov noted.
The Council for Assistance to the Russian Olympic Committee was formed for the all-round support to the activities of the organization, including financial, cultural, social and other activities. The council includes representatives of the members of the Council for Assistance, state authorities, local self-government bodies, organizations of different organizational and legal forms and types of property, athletes, sport specialists, prominent politicians, cultural personalities and other people interested in the improvement of the activities of the Russian Olympic Committee and the development of the Olympic movement in Russia.
