95th Anniversary of the Birth of Gara Garayev Celebrated in Moscow

On April 16, the Big Hall of the Moscow State Conservatoire hosted a solemn evening dedicated to the 95th anniversary of great Azerbaijani composer, USSR People's Artist Gara Garayev. The event, organized by the Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Ministry with the support of the Azerbaijani Embassy in the US and Russian Culture Ministry, was attended by Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu and Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfas Garayev, AzerTAj reports.

Opening the event, the ambassador noted that Gara Garayev was a composer of not only Azerbaijani people but all the Soviet peoples. “Gara Garayev was honored with the highest awards of the USSR. He left a very bright trace in the music history of 20th century,” he said.

The Grand Symphonic Orchestra conducted by Azerbaijani Elshad Bagirov performed Don Quixote symphonic gravures and suite from ballet The Path of Thunder by Gara Garayev. The anniversary evening involved representatives of the Russian public, diplomatic corpses accredited in Moscow, Azerbaijani Embassy, Russian Office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Azerbaijani diaspora.
