Russian and Finnish Foreign Minsters Discuss Children’s Rights

One of the most serious issues in the Russian-Finnish relations is the protection of children’s rights in family conflicts, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday after talks with his Finnish counterpart Erkki Tuomioja, ITAR-TASS reports.
 
“One of the area where we would like to see a faster progress is the protection of children’s rights in family conflicts,” Lavrov stressed. “We think it utterly important to build an efficient model of a Russian-Finnish dialogue in the area of family laws.”
 
“It is necessary to ensure an unconditional priority of the rights and interests of children in settling such issues,” the Russian diplomat noted.
 
Lavrov recalled that in late 2012 Russia and Finland exchanges lists of names of officials from relevant agencies in order to be in touch on issues of family laws. “We agreed to organize the first meeting of such officials in Moscow. We are agreeing the date,” he added.
