Actress Ingeborga Dapkunaite Opens Cinemotion Acting School in Moscow

15.04.2013

The idea of the Cinemotion Acting School appeared after Ingeborga Dapkunaite held a series of master-classes as part of Russian and foreign educative projects. The school’s board will include American actor John Malkovich, the Hollywood screenwriter Robert McKee, the dead of the British American Drama Academy (BADA) Ian Wooldridge and others, RIA Novosti reports. Fifteen people have been selected to participate in the first two-month program, which starts today.

The program might be resumed in autumn with new students. The program establishes no age restrictions. Ingeborga Dapkunaite does not exclude establishing in the future courses aimed at experienced actors. The actress also pointed out that the school will provide help to the students in job seeking.

The curriculum is based on both Russian and foreign classical and contemporary literature. The dean of the BADA Ian Wooldridge believes that Russian action traditions, Stanislavsky’s system and Russian culture in general are an important part of the world’s theatre and cinema development. Ian Wooldridge also points out the potential of young Russian artists abroad but regrets the lack of language skills, which reduce their chances to appear in the Hollywood cinema industry.

In May, the Cinemotion Acting School is to hold a series of workshops of Ivana Chubbuk. The leading American acting coach has worked with Brad Pitt, Charlize Theron, Halle Berry, Liv Tyler and others. Ingeborga Dapkunaite said that later the students might have chance to assist at John Malkovich’s workshops.
