Crystal Turandot to Be Awarded in Moscow

24.09.2012

The Crystal Turandot theatre awards ceremony will traditionally take place at the Vakhtangov Theatre in Moscow on Monday night, Voice of Russia reports.

The winner in the nomination For Honour and Dignity is that theatre’s oldest actress, 96-year-old Galina Konovalova. Outstanding actor Valentin Gaft is also to receive a high award.

The award was set up in 1991. The winner receives a crystal figurine of Princess Turandot, the main character of a play staged at the Vakhtangov Theatre as early as 1922. The play became the theatre’s symbol for many years to come.
