Russia’s Vera Zvonareva has climbed to ninth position in the new Women Tennis Association (WTA) top 10 ranking after reaching her first Grand Slam final, RIA Novosti reports.

Former world no. 5 in February 2009, Zvonareva rose from no. 21 on the WTA list after advancing to the Wimbledon women's final on Saturday, where she was beaten 6-3, 6-2 by the top-ranked U.S. tennis champion Serena Williams.
