Russian-Language Summer School to Be Held in Moscow

24.06.2010

For the eighth year in a row, the International Russian-Language Summer School is being held in Moscow. This year a special class has been added for children with a high level of Russian language skills, RIA Novosti reports.

The summer school will be held at the Children’s Health Camp “Moskovia”. The program has been organized to bolster international cooperation in education and promote the Russian language in the world.

This year the organizing committee has been chaired by deputy mayor of Moscow Lyudmila Shvetsova. “The Moscow Institute of Open Education together with the State Pushkin Institute of Russian Language held special training courses for 20 teachers that will provide language instructions,” a representative of the city’s social office said. The lessons will be targeted at the specific language skill level of the students.

This year 320 students accompanied by 40 teachers are expected to participate from 36 different countries around the world. “For the first time there will be delegations from Abkhazia and South Ossetia,” the organizers said.
