Moscow Hosts Fifth Russian Literary Award

Moscow has hosted the fifth annual Russian literary award for authors writing in Russian abroad, the Voice of Russia reports. The “Big Prose” nomination went to Miriam Petrosyan from Armenia for her debut “The House In Which…” about orphans with special needs. The prize for the best poetry was given to Maria Timatkova from the US for her book “Real Name”. Tajik  Alisher Niyazov, now residing in Kyrgyzstan, took the first  prize for his short stories under the title “Farkhad and Shirin”. Moldovan university professor of Russian Olesys Rudyagina got the special prize “Contribution to the spread of Russian Culture abroad”.

The award was established in 2005. This year the prize fund was $ 5000 per nomination.
