Center for International Theater in Italy recognized as the best Russian theater abroad.

The Center for International Theater in Italy was named the best Russian theater abroad and was awarded the "Star of the Theater." They secured more audience votes than the Belarusian Drama Theater named after Gorky and the Swiss Theater Synthese. The award ceremony took place on December 11 in Moscow.

According to the head of the Center Olga Melnik, the theater has an international team. She said that there are a hundred plays in the repertoire and almost all of them are in Russian.

Vasily Bochkaryov, Lyudmila Maksakova, and Olga Yakovleva were honored with the Legend of the Stage title at the awards ceremony. The award recognizes the outstanding contributions of individuals and projects in the field of theater, including the best Russian professional and amateur theaters, directors, actors, and social initiatives.

The Best Russian Theater Abroad category was won by Yerevan's Stanislavsky Russian Drama Theater in 2022 The Italian Center for International Theater and the Lermontov Russian Drama Theater from Kazakhstan were also shortlisted.

The Theater Star Award, initiated by Teatral magazine in 2008, holds the unique status of being the only Russian award in theatrical art solely based on audience preference. The winners are decided through global online voting by viewers. The project is realized with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.
