Hundreds of events dedicated to the celebration of Victory Day took place abroad, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports. In dozens of countries they were held by Russian diplomats and compatriots. The celebrations dedicated to this holiday have turned into a good tradition, said the MFA's spokesperson, Maria Zakharova.

The Immortal Regiment campaign was joined by thousands of people from different countries. The "Windows of Victory", "Garden of Memory", "Songs of Victory", "Fire of Memory" projects were also held. Wreath-laying at monuments and military graves, as well as motor rallies, photo exhibitions and film screenings were organized in many countries.

There is a section on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is constantly updated with information about the celebration of Victory Day abroad.

It is regrettable, but not surprising, that in some countries the authorities have tried to prevent paying tribute to the memory of the heroes who saved the world from Nazism, the Russian Foreign Ministry noted. The Baltic republics banned the use of Victory symbols at the legislative level. Chisinau followed their example. During the commemorative events in Latvia, several people were detained, law enforcement agencies opened criminal and administrative cases against them. Among those who wanted to prevent the celebration of Victory Day was Berlin.

The holiday this year had to be celebrated against the backdrop of an aggressive wave of Russophobia, which is inflated by the collective West, the MFA stressed. In some countries, pro-Ukrainian activists wanted to disrupt the memorial events. In particular, provocations accompanied the marches of the Immortal Regiment in the Polish, Spanish, French and German capitals.

To date, the Immortal Regiment has been held in more than 70 countries. 130 events took place within the framework of this project. More than 80 countries embraced festive celebrations, including receptions at embassies, wreath-laying, clean-ups at the graves of war heroes. The Russian MFA promised that they would celebrate Victory Day abroad until the end of the week.

At the UN site, Russian diplomats together with partners from the CIS countries carried out the  #Memory of Victory project. Posts telling about monuments, museums and exhibitions dedicated to the Great Patriotic War were published on social networks.

Russian diplomats do not forget about war veterans living abroad. They visit them throughout the year, provide the necessary assistance, and on May 9 they deliver messages from the President of the Russian Federation.
