Putin proposes to declare 2021 Year of Science and Technology

Russian President Vladimir Putin made a proposal to declare the next year, 2021, the Year of Science and Technology. The Russian president made such an initiative during a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, which is being held on Thursday, December 24, RIA Novosti reports.

According to Vladimir Putin, the value of the work of people employed in these areas, their contribution to the development of the country deserve special recognition from society and the state.

The outgoing year was declared the Year of Memory and Glory in Russia. It was held to preserve historical memory and was timed to coincide with the anniversary of the Great Victory. In 2020, this event of enormous global significance turns 75 years old. Within the framework of the Year, many large-scale events and projects were carried out in Russia and abroad. Among them are the online march of the Immortal Regiment, the Garden of Memory, the opening of the Rzhev Memorial, the No Statute of Limitations project and many others.
