Russian government approves education quotas for foreigners

The Russian government has established quotas for the training of foreign citizens and stateless persons at the expense of the budget, TASS reports. Next year it will be 18,000 people, in 2022 - 23,000 people. From 2023, 30,000 foreign students will study at Russian universities annually at the expense of the federal budget.

Additional funding will be required for the project. In 2021, more than 170 million rubles should be allocated, in 2022 - almost a billion, and from 2023 - more than 2.5 billion per year.

At the moment, compatriots abroad and foreign citizens can enter more than 450 Russian state universities under the Russian government quota. The demand for education in Russia is very high - in particular, this year, 33,000 applications were received.

More than 300,000 foreign students receive higher education in Russian universities. They represent over 170 countries.
