The DPRK plans to strengthen cooperation with Russia in the educational sphere, the Izvestia newspaper writes. This topic was touched upon during the meeting ofthe DPRK Ambassador to Russia Shin Hon Chol and the head of Rossotrudnichestvo Yevgeny Primakov.

The high-ranking North Korean diplomat noted that the popularity of studying the Russian language was growing in the country every year. And students who, having received a diploma from Russian universities, return to the DPRK, continue to work in the country's leading higher educational institutions. Many of them occupy top positions in the country's management.

Chol noted that Pyongyang planned to develop and deepen educational exchanges and increase the number of students studying at Russian universities.

In turn, Yevgeny Primakov recalled the importance of friendship between the peoples of the two countries. He assured that Russia was making efforts to increase the number of students from the DPRK. The head of Rossotrudnichestvo has no doubts that they will make a significant contribution to the economy of their country.

In the current academic year, Russia has allocated additional budget places in universities for students from the DPRK.
