Putin goes to Mongolia to conclude permanent treaty of friendship

Russia and Mongolia are planning to enter into an indefinite friendship agreement during the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Asian country on September 3. The Russian leader will discuss issues of developing a mutually beneficial partnership with chairman of the State Great Khural (Parliament) Gombojav Zandanshatar and Prime Minister of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh. Putin said this in anticipation of a visit to Mongolia in an interview with the Udriin Sonin newspaper, the text is posted on the website of the President of Russia.

Putin said that during the leaders would sign an interstate treaty of friendship and strategic partnership, which expands the provisions of the previous agreement between the countries, concluded in 1993. According to the Russian president, the document will strengthen the existing ties, giving them a new impetus.

The economic issues will also be discussed during the visit - Vladimir Putin announced a 21% increase in trade between Russia and Mongolia compared to 2018, as well as cooperation in the transport sector, energy and education.

During the interview, the head of Russia conveyed an invitation to the head of Mongolia to take part in events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The President recalled that one of the most important events in the common history was the victory over the Japanese troops at Khalkhin Gol. Our country also remembers the assistance provided by the inhabitants of Mongolia to our soldiers during the Second World War. The development of multifaceted ties with Mongolia is one of the priorities of domestic policy in Asia, the president assured.
