American president Donald Trump supported the idea of French leader Emmanuel Macron on the invitation of the Russian president to the G7 summit in 2020. The summit should be held overseas, RIA Novosti reports. According to an American journalist, the presidents of the United States and France discussed this issue during a telephone conversation. Donald Trump is about to pick it up at the upcoming G7 meeting. Leaders of the G7 will gather at the end of the week in Biarritz, France.

Trump has already said that he has no objection to the resumption of work in the G8 format. The American president believes that Russia was expelled from the G8, as Vladimir Putin outwitted the former American president Barack Obama.

Russian senator Alexey Pushkov called this proposal a sound idea and the only right thing to do. At the same time, the politician recalled that Washington imposed seventy types of various sanctions against Russia. The member of the Federation Council noted that one did not fit well with the other.

Another member of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev called the return of Russia to the G8 unacceptable if the equal rights and opportunities of its members are not ensured. He suggested that it would be right to modernize the format of the summit and invite China and India to join it. Konstantin Kosachev is confident that these countries have a great influence on the international scene. One cannot ignore the scale of their economies. "The transformation of the "seven "into the" ten" would be a powerful phenomenon in world politics, changing vectors, approaches and formats," the politician is sure.

Russkiy Mir reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin met with his French counterpart during his working visit to France two days ago.
