Interview with Vladimir Putin included in Oliver Stone's film about Ukraine

The film by American director Oliver Stone called In the fight for Ukraine has received the Grand Prix of the film festival in Italian Taormina. The documentary includes an interview of the director with the Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Channel One reports on its website.

It was not the first time when Oliver Stone spoke with the Russian leader. In 2017, the director shot a documentary about him in four episodes. Before that he released the Ukraine on Fire documentary, which shows the events of 2014. The interviews with Putin and former Ukrainian leader Viktor Yanukovich were used for the film.

This time, the head of state gave an assessment of the actions of the Kiev authorities. There was a speech about the incident in the Kerch Strait that happened last fall. Vladimir Putin stressed that then the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, knew perfectly well that he had no support in the southern part of the country, and deliberately went for the provocation to make the situation tense. Vladimir Putin believes that Poroshenko intended to impose a martial law on the entire territory of the country and postpone the elections, he was eager to maintain power at any cost.

The Russian premiere of the film is scheduled for July 19.

Russkiy Mir reported that on October 25, three Ukrainian ships illegally entered Russian territorial waters. The ships called Berdyansk, Nikopol and Yany Kapu violated the established procedure and failed to stop when asked to do so. The Russian site was obliged to use weapons. All three vessels were detained, three Ukrainian military were slightly injured. Russia opened a criminal case on the fact of violation of the state border.
