On January 8 Vladimir Putin held a meeting in Kaliningrad to discuss the development of regions. The drafts of future cultural centers were submitted to Russian President. Museum educational complexes will be established in 4 cities  – Vladivostok, Sevastopol, Kemerovo, and Kaliningrad, Vesti-Kaliningrad informs.

During the presentation of the new cultural center, Governor of Kaliningrad Region Anton Alikhanov told what the Theatre of Opera and Ballet will look like. The main hall will have 950 seats. The additional hall with 300 seats will be also used by schoolchildren and students. “Kaliningrad is about to be the cultural showcase of Russian West. New branch of Bolshoi Theater, the Higher School of Musical and Theater Art, and the office of Moscow State Academy of Choreography  will be established in the city. We will build the dormitory for Russian and foreign students, and provide the apartments to the professors,” Alikhanov said.

Along with the creation of the branch of the Bolshoi Theater, the affiliate of the Tretyakov Gallery will appear in the region soon. The Director of museum Zelfira Tregulova promised that there will be significant and long-term expositions, including works from the core fund of the Tretyakov Gallery.

The idea of establishing the cultural centers in provincial regions was generated by Valery Gergiev. The performances of the Mariinsky Theatre have a great success in Vladivostok for many years.

Vladimir Putin noted the importance of the establishments of cultural centers in the country. “This is an opportunity of seeing world masterpieces that we have in our major museums, mostly in storages. An opportunity to meet the leading artists, because they are able to put on plays and perform. A seemingly prosaic thing that is behind all of this, is children’s education. This will radically change the life in the region,” President believes.
