Russian President Vladimir Putin has voiced the hope that the negotiation process on resumption of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF Treaty) would start again. He said this in an interview with RT France TV channel, TASS reports.

In his opinion, it is crucial to maintain dialogue at a top level as well as at the level of experts.

The head of state added that Moscow was ready for this. He recalled that Russia had not decided to leave the INF Treaty. Washington ponders on this step.

It was rather natural that Europe intended to become more independent and self-sufficient in the matter of ensuring its own security, Putin commented on his French colleague Emmanuel Macron's proposal to create a European army. Europe was a very powerful economic alliance, it was clear that it might want to be independent in terms of defense, Vladimir Putin explained. According to him, it will also have a good effect on the strengthening of a multipolar world.

The president also covered the issue of the mass media saying that it is unacceptable to divide the media into “good and bad” as it states against democratic principles.
