The results of the Russian schools students at international competitions confirm the success of national education, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the meeting with the finalists of the Teacher of the Year national contest. It took place on October 3 in Saint Petersburg, TASS reports.

There is apparent progress as students of Russian schools are not just among the leaders but win the first places in the most prestigious competitions. The head of state noted that the teaching community made the main contribution in this.

The Russian leader added that in order to teach children to learn, the modern world requires ongoing self-study for all professionals in any area.

A personal example is very important, Vladimir Putin is convinced. In this case the children understand that their teacher is continuously developing. He thanked the teachers for their work and wished them future success.

Note, the results of the second round of the Teacher of the Year competition were summed up on October 3. Traditionally five contestants of 15 finalists reached the second round. Now they will go to Moscow for the final contest called Conversation with the Minister.

The name of the winner will be announced on October 5 at a ceremony in the Kremlin Palace. It is dedicated to the professional holiday. Teachers' Day is celebrated on October 5th.
