Russian gymnasts win 12 medals at the 36th FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships

Russian rhythmic gymnastic team has topped of the informal overall medal standings at the 2018 FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships, TASS reports. Russian representatives won 12 awards in the Bulgarian capital where the tournament was held. They achieved seven gold, two silver and three bronze medals. Italian team follows Russia. Bulgaria closes the top three of the championship.

Russian athletes won all individual disciplines. Dina Averina took four gold medals. She became the world champion in personal all-around competition, in exercises with clubs, a ball and a hoop.

Alexandra Soldatova won another gold medal. She secured a victory in exercises with a ribbon. Sisters Dina and Arina Averina together with Alexandra Soldatova received the title of the world champion in the team championship. Arina Averina has two bronzes: in exercises with a hoop and with clubs. Soldatova became the third in the all-around competition and the second - in the exercises with the ball.

Russian gymnasts also won the group all-around competition.

According to the Russian team coach Irina Viner-Usmanova, the main task at the tournament was the victory in the Olympic disciplines. The Russians coped with it for 100%.
