All day long Moscow inhabitants were bringing flowers to the Greek Embassy to share the grief for the forest fire victims, MTRK Mir reports. The fire has almost totally destroyed Mati — small  holiday resort situated not far from Athens. Streets are covered with ashes, cars are burned out to metal frame skeletons.

Almost 200 people are estimated to have been injured, including many children. 1,500 homes had been damaged, many destroyed. Three-day mourning period was declared in Greece.

The hot weather stays in Greece for a month already, last days the temperature raised to 40 degrees Celsius. Two days ago high temperature has provoked few fire hotspots, but on Monday more than 15 fires broke out in that part of southern Greece.

Vladimir Putin has extended his condolences to the Greece Premier Minister Alexis Tsipras. The Russian President proposed Russia's help to fight forest fires.
