In several hours after the act of vandalism over the monument to the Soviet soldiers in the middle of the Czech Republic’s capital, it was put back in order by Presidential Press Secretary of the Czech Republic Jiří Ovčáček in person. The corresponding record was published on his Twitter page. The Representative of the President posted a picture of the monument with the pink paint spilt all over it.

“I believe it is my civil duty to clean off the monument to the liberators of our native land,” Ovčáček wrote.

A small obelisk with the star was installed next to Prajsky Grad. Press Secretary wiped off the monument with a piece of cloth with acetone.
The Red Army liberated Czechoslovakia at the end of the Great Patriotic War. The fights continued from the 6th until the 11th of May here. About 12 000 Soviet soldiers died fighting with the Hitler’s army. More than 40 000 were wounded.

There are people in the Czech Republic and in other European countries wishing to reconsider the course of the war and its outcome. More and more often here people claim that the Red Army enslaved the fraternal Slavic nation instead of liberation it.
