The Russian Embassy in Sweden demanded that the monument, which was attacked by vandals, be cleaned up. An official appeal has been submitted to the Swedish Foreign Ministry. The authorities must conduct a thorough investigation of the outrageous incident, find those responsible and hold them accountable, the diplomatic mission is confident.

The diplomats also demanded that the security of Russian and Soviet military graves in Sweden be ensured.

Supporters of the Nazi Kyiv regime desecrated a memorial sign, which was installed in the Karlsvik district of the Luleå municipality. There was a transit camp through which former Soviet prisoners of war returned from Norway to the Soviet Union. The stone was installed in 2015 by the Russian Embassy together with the municipal authorities.

The diplomatic mission hopes that the memorial will be put in order as quickly as possible, and that the Nazis and their accomplices will not be allowed to commit such crimes in the future.
