The Russian Embassy called on the Bulgarian authorities to stop the war with monuments, TASS reports. According to diplomats, Sofia is doing everything possible to take a leading position in the number of attacks on monuments. The diplomatic mission commented on the desecration of the monument, which is installed on the mass grave of Soviet soldiers in Stara Zagora. This "race" can cause nothing but disgust, according to the embassy.

The embassy noted that the fight against monuments cannot be mistaken for the so-called European values. Sophia needs to start fulfilling its obligations to preserve the monuments again.

The diplomats backed up those residents of Bulgaria who do not support the postulates of the mythical "Soviet occupation", actively promoted by the authorities and the media. They maintain a balanced and sober look at the past, remember and honor the feat of the heroes who sacrificed their lives in the fight against Nazism, the embassy stressed.
