Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation

Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with his Bulgarian counterpart Rumen Radev, according to the Kremlin official website. Their meeting was appointed for May 22 in Sochi. The center of discussion was around developing bilateral cooperation in the field of economics.

According to Vladimir Putin, the good news is that last year trade turnover was much increased. At this, President has added that there is still much room left for improvement in this field. Russian President has mentioned that already in several days, the Bulgarian Prime Minister is to come to Russia and they will continue discussion of this topic.

Vladimir Putin has reminded that this year Bulgaria has solemnly and extensively been celebrating the anniversary of liberation from the Ottoman Yoke, the day which remains one of the key dates in the common history. At this, Russia’s President believes that there exist many other topics joining the two nations. For example, already in 2 days, the Days of the Slavic Writing and Culture will be celebrated.

The Head of Bulgaria, in his turn, has expressed hope that the meeting with Vladimir Putin is to help resume a dialogue between the countries. “The aim of my visit is restitution of a dialogue between our countries at the top level after the long-lasting break,” Radev said. He has mentioned that this dialogue is very significant in all the spheres.

Note that Rumen Radev is paying his first official visit to Russia holding the Head of State’s office. He met Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev the day before.
