Russians prefer Pushkin and Bulgakov

Russians haven't changed in their affection to reading. It was confirmed by the survey results conducted on April 23, The World Book Day. Participants of Avito.ru (Russian classified advertisements website) took part in this survey, RIA Novosti reports.

About 40% of respondents read every day. About 30% of them give preference to the national literature, while 20% prefer foreign literature.

The poetry lovers survey showed that ¼ of the respondents chose to read Pushkin. Yesenin's poetry was at the second place, and the top three was closed by Lermontov. Mayakovsky and Akhmatova positioned right behind.

Among the prose authors Bulgakov is at the top position, followed by Dostoevsky, Stephen King and Leo Tolstoy. German novelist Remarque and Russian detective and historical fiction writer Akunin took 4th and 5th positions.

¼ respondents have admitted that they lure to classical literature, while about 1/3 have chosen contemporary one. The most popular genres are historical and adventure novels. Science fiction and fantasy didn't miss them by much.

Young men below the age of 18 and women after 56 are the most avid readers.

Moscow region was recognized as the most well-read place, while Rostov and Chelyabinsk regions took 2 place, and The Republic of Bashkortostan close the top-3.
