Vakhtangov Theater brings Smile to us, God production to London

The Vakhtangov State Academic Theater heads for a tour to the British capital, according to TASS. London theatre admirers will enjoy the theatre performance titled Smile to us, God. This is one of the famous stagings of the artistic director of the Russian troupe Rimas Tuminas. The production is based on books by Grigory Kanovich. The story is around travelling of three elderly Jews to Vilnius. The scene unfolds shortly before the beginning of the First World War.

According to director of Vakhtangov theatre Kirill Krok, the production was demonstrated in many countries of the world with great success. Krok has expressed hope that London will not ignore the performance too.

This is not the first trip for the Vakhtangov theatre to UK. They staged Uncle Vanya play by A. Chekhov here 5 years ago. The theatre critics have given high ratings to this work by Tuminas. All tickets were sold out. The play hit the box-office all six times.

Then London saw a legendary Eugene Onegin, which was called “absolutely brilliant staging” by mass media. Then and now Russian actors performed at the stage of the largest cultural center in Europe Barbican.
