War and Peace ballet to be presented in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou next spring, TASS reported. The production, staged by the Solovyanenko Donetsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, received funding from the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.

Artistic director of the Kremlin Ballet Andrei Petrov, unfortunately, did not live to witness the premiere, having passed away in the spring.

Premiering in August in Crimea and subsequently at the Bolshoi Theater, the ballet involves around 200 artists from the Kremlin Ballet, Donbass Opera, and the Voronezh Opera and Ballet Theater. The performance features 46 set changes, mirroring the 46 paintings in the novel.

The libretto is crafted by Andrei Petrov and Viktor Dobrosotsky. Among the leading actors are Ekaterina Pervushina as Natasha Rostova, Daniil Roslanov and Mikhail Evgenov portraying Andrei Bolkonsky and Pierre Bezukhov, respectively. The ballet is accompanied by the Donbass Opera Chorus and Orchestra conducted by Yuri Paramonenko.
