Russian athletes took two medals at the competitions in PyeongChang. Freestyle skier Ilya Burov won bronze in the discipline of ski acrobatics. Russian skiers became second in 4X10 km relay, TASS informs.

In the discipline of ski acrobatics, 26-year old Ilya Burov from Yaroslavl let sportsmen from Ukraine and Chine come first. Noteworthy that the acrobat was 6th at the beginning of the final battle, where only 12 men managed to pass. The third start brought bronze to Burov. The sportsman says that his performance was not flawless, but the judges gave good marks. This medal was hard for the Russian athlete to get. He started training only in summer because he got injured in the road traffic incident at the end of 2016.

Russian skiers became heroes, of course. Fight for the medals at the relay was quite serious. The team from Russia was leading during the first two stages, which were divided between Andrey Larkov and Aleksander Bolshunov. Alexey Chervotkin, who fell ill right before the competitions, was outcome by his rivals.
At the final stage, Denis Spitsov, at some point, outran his competitors, but the Olympic Champion of PyeongChang in team sprint Johannes Klaebo managed to make a winning drive at the finish line and left the Russian skier behind. The third place belongs to the French team.

Potential competitors in the ice hickey of the Olympic athletes from Russia in 1\4 finals were also defined. On February 2, Russians will play with either the Slovenians or the Norwegians and, in case of success, they might meet teams of the Czech Republic, Slovakia or USA in semi-finals.
Now the Russian national team occupies the 20th place in the total medal count. The Russian athletes’ collection contains 8 bronze and 3 silver awards. Norway is still leading at these competitions, while Germany and the Netherlands follow.
