22.12.2017

Russian Defense Ministry President of the Russian Federation and German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed hope that ceasefire regime in Donbass, declared during the New Year holidays would turn into a long-lasting and adequate truce. Talks of the two countries’ leaders took place yesterday’s evening, TASS informs.

The participants of the three-lateral contact group agreed about the truce as well.

Besides, Vladimir Putin and Angela Merkel talked about necessity and importance of execution of the reached agreements about prisoners’ exchange. They agreed that this should be done in the nearest time.

Another important topic discussed by Russian and German leaders is a question about Joint Ceasefire Control Center. Angela Merkel is sure that the Center should continue functioning, which requires some efforts. Everything should be done to resolve issues, preventing the center from functioning. Russia’s delegates could return to the Center only in case all issues are settled.

Vladimir Putin has remarked that Kiev was trying to stop the work of Russian officers using all available means including limitations and provocations over a long period. The head of state added that all possible solutions of the current crisis offered by Russia found no answer.
