Greek University awards Russian president

Russian President AdministrationRussian President Vladimir Putin has been awarded with Prize of Democritus University of Thrace, RIA Novosti advises. The Greek higher educational institution is named after the legendary antique scientist and philosopher Democritus. Russian leader was awarded for his work for the sake of stability and wealth of the region.

The gala ceremony of handing in the golden medal took place the day before at Russian Embassy in Athens. According to the University’s rector Stavros Touloupidis, the head of Russia is loyal to his course of actions reflecting his intention to preserve Orthodox spirit of peacefulness and friendship. Besides, the rector has mentioned that Russian President is doing everything possible for development of spirituality and culture of Hellenism and strengthening beneficial ties between Russia and Greece.

Russian Ambassador to Greece Andrey Maslov expressed his gratitude to the Greek University having emphasized the major role of the university in extension of Russian-Greek humanitarian connections, advance of Russian language and culture.

The top diplomat is sure that Russian center will facilitate advance of Russian language and culture as well as extension of bilateral humanitarian ties in future. The Russkiy Mir Foundation plans to open the Russian Center already next year.
