Putin orders to protect Baikal lake ecology

Vladimir Putin has ordered to create an environmental damage liquidation plan to the lake Baikal inflicted for the last years. Contaminated areas recultivation is absolutely necessary, underlined Russian president during the meeting dedicated to the ecological situation at the Baikal State Nature Biosphere Reserve territory, RIA Novosti reports. 

Putin thinks that it’s time to deal with still working factories and upgrade most of the dated treatment facilities. Putin underlined that lake Baikal is one of the Russian goverment’ priorities. The lake is treature not only of our country but for all the world. He has noted that the ecological situation at Baikal has to be checked with supervision of the Public Prosecutor, and appropriate actions should be taken. 

Putin has reminded that authorities should stimulate the ecological responsibility of the business, including project co-financing propositions. 

Lake Baikal is a UNESCO World Heritage site, the world's deepest lake at 1,700 metres and also the oldest at 25 million years. Tourists from all over the world come there to enjoy the unique wildlife and yet to be clean waters.
