Vladimir Putin called the countries for joint efforts in fighting terrorism during his speech at the Council meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, RIA Novosti informs. Russian President has pointed out that terrorist organizations banned in Russia are continuing their destructive actions. According to the national intelligence agencies, they are preparing terrorist acts in Central Asia and in the south of Russia.
Russian President has emphasized that only joint efforts of SCO countries would help defeat this evil and has called for better coordination of SCO countries’ intelligence services. An important step on the way of fighting terrorism is signature of anti-extremism convention at the summit.
In his speech, Vladimir Putin touched upon some economic questions, which were initially discussed at the St. Petersburg Forum. He claimed that SCO countries should hold a course for combining efforts, coordination of national strategies and versatile projects at the territories of SCO, which will finally enable to strengthen potentials of other organizations and associations.
In the view of Vladimir Putin, SCO countries should lead active diplomatic operations on settling regional conflicts, in particular, the Syrian war. Russian leader has underlined one more time that peaceful negotiations and diplomatic solutions of the conflict with participation of all the parties including intermediaries from Turkey and Iran are the only way to finish the Syrian armed conflict. At this stage, it is essential to strengthen the ceasefire regime.
