Presidential Administration of RussiaVladimir Putin and other top officials of the Russian Federation, heads of related Ministries, entrepreneurs and relatives of the late head of the French oil and gas company Total Christophe de Margerie took part in official ceremony of giving a name to a new liquefied natural gas tanker, as per TASS.

Gala ceremony was held at one of the ports in St. Petersburg called Bronke. Russian Parliament Speaker Valentina Matviyenko became a God Mother of the cargo vessel.

After the ceremony was over, Vladimir Putin recalled Christophe de Margerie who perished in a plane crash and did justice to his merits in strengthening Russian-French relations. He has claimed that this tanker is a first vessel in a series of fifteen similar ships of ice rate and expressed assuredness in successful future of Yamal SPG project.

Russian leader extended hope that new large-scale petroleum projects would appear in the Arctic region with foreign participation.

The first loading of liquefied natural gas tanker to transport the gas to Europe is scheduled for December 2017.
