Latvian conductor receives the Grammy award for Shostakovich recording

The winners of the last Grammy 2016 were announced. In particular, Latvian conductor Andris Nelsons and the the Boston Symphony received the Best Orchestral Performance prize for the recording release of the album "Under Stalin’s Shadow" that included 5th, 8th and 9th symphonies by Dmitry Shostakovich. Last year maestro Nelsons received award in the same nomination for recording of the 10th symphony of Shostakovitch.

Another Grammy for the Best Surround Sound Album was granted to the father and the son of Russian origin, Dmitry and Alexander Lipay. They have done astonishing work as surround mix engineers on Anri Dutilleux album recorded by Seattle Symphony orchestra.

The award for Best Choral Performans was received by Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra with Warsaw Philharmonic Choir for the recording of Krzysztof Penderecki music. The famous Polish composer also was conducting his pieces. Russian singer Nikolay Didenko also took part in the recording session.

Let us remind that Russian diva Anna Netrebko was also nominated for Grammy Award for her new album “Verismo”. Unfortunately, she didn't receive it.
