Russian record company Melodia issued collection of Dmitry Shostakovich works, TASS reports. Shostakovich Plays Shostakovich collection is unique because it contains records where the composer plays his own music, said Melodia representative.

The finest compilation presents music of Russian Soviet composer recorded by many famous performers of XX century. Among them are cellist Daniil Shafran, singers Nina Dorliak and Zara Dolukhanova, conductor and pianist Maxim Shostakovich, Beethoven Quartet, and others.

Studio recordings are complemented with one rarest home-made record - the Violin Sonata played by the composer himself and David Oistrakh.

Music lovers would definitely relish on the 10th Symphony arranged for two pianos performed by Dmitry Shostakovich and his friend and colleague Mieczysław Weinberg.

The Shostakovich compilation published by Melodia is now available on iTunes, Apple Music and other platforms.
