08.02.2017

Basic necessity for Moldova is rebuilding relations with the Russian Federation, believes Igor Dodon, President of the Republic. He expressed this thought during his meeting with Donald Tusk, President of the European Counsil, Lenta.ru reports.

The president of Moldova added that Chisinau might cancel the European Union association agreement. Igor Dodon explained that before this agreement was concluded the country development forecast was very optimistic. However, in two years after its signature the situation in the Republic deteriorated a lot.

Mr. Dodon mentioned about his intention to cancel this agreement earlier. Moreover, after being elected the Head of State, he issued an order to take the European Union flag away from the president residence, as there should not be any other flags on the top of state buildings as stipulated in the law.

Igor Dodon won the presidential elections in Moldova at the end of last year. He chose Russia to pay his first official visit. It is worth mentioning that that was the first visit of the president of Moldova to Russian Federation over the last eight years.
