Moldova Constitutional Court approves of Russian news’ ban

07.01.2018

fapms.ruBanning Russian news is nothing but invasion into people’s rights to access information, says Igor Dodon. He expressed his disapproval of the constitutional court’s ruling which allowed to ignore the veto imposed by the country’s head and pass the law limiting the broadcast of Russian TV channels in the country, according to TASS.

Moldavian President called for censorship onto this law, which is supposed to ensure information security. Besides, in his opinion it is an example of double standards, because other mass media calling for annihilation of Moldavian sovereignty still broadcast freely. He said he hoped that the citizens would be able to learn the news banned by the censorship from other sources.
The Moldavian leader promised that after the Parliament elections, which are to take place this year, a lot will have to be changed and corrected. It mustn’t be allowed that the country’s policy is defined by those who swore allegiance to the state of Romania, said Igor Dodon.

It should be reminded that at the beginning of December the Moldavian Parliament in two readings approved the law limiting the broadcast of Russian mass media. Its authors believe that by doing so they ensure information security in Moldavia. For example, they plan to ban broadcasting of the news, political and military programs. Previously the President had refused to sign the document and sent it back to the Parliament. He also applied to the constitutional court.
