Portraits of veterans of the Great Patriotic War became exhibits of the ''Autographs of War'' exhibition. It opened in the capital of Venezuela the day before, on November, 21, TASS reports. Black and white portraits created by the artist Gennady Dobrov are exhibited in the Gallery of National Art of the country.

Russian Ambassador Sergei Melik-Bagdasarov thanked the Venezuelan Ministry of Culture for assistance in holding the exhibition. Thanks to his help, the diplomat added, the exhibition was replenished with clippings from Venezuelan newspapers from the Second World War. He has no doubt that such exhibitions are especially important today, given the backdrop of current events.

Venezuelan Culture Minister Ernesto Villegas believes that this exhibition is very timely, because attempts to rewrite military history and forget about the tens of millions of lives that were given for the victory over fascism are becoming more and more frequent.

According to the organizers of the exhibition, the Russian artist’s works, done in black and white, help viewers see the mark the war leaves on the souls and appearance of people.

The exhibition, organized with the assistance of the Russian Embassy in Venezuela and Rossotrudnichestvo, worked in the city of Maracay in the summer; previously, residents of the Venezuelan cities of Barquisimeto and Valencia could see it.
