Russians and Belarusians honored memory of Great Patriotic War victims in Switzerland

A memorial evening was held in Geneva in honor of the anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War. Citizens of Russia and Belarus who live and work in Switzerland, as well as diplomats of the two countries attended it. The participants paid tribute to the memory of those who died during the Great Patriotic War, TASS reports.

The event, which was held by the Russian-language website Swiss Afisha with the assistance of the Olympus Suisse association, brought together Russians and Belarusians not only from Geneva, but also from Lausanne and other Swiss cities. 

Songs and poems of the war years were performed at the event, as well as the Memory candle campaign. A documentary about the Nazis' atrocoties in Khatyn was screened during the event.

The performer of the Bolshoi Theater of Geneva Dmitry Tikhonov sang war yeas songs, he was joined by the representatives of cultural institutions and the Belarusian embassy.

According to the organizers, the purpose of the memorial evening was to gather people for whom the memory of the Great Patriotic War and the exploits of their ancestors is sacred.
