Sergei Lavrov arrived in NY to take part in UN General Assembly

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov have arrived in New York, where he will take part in the events of the High-level week of the UN General Assembly, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.

The minister's journey took almost 12 hours - to get to the United States, he had to fly around unfriendly countries. He was met at the airport by the head of the Russian diplomatic mission, Anatoly Antonov, and Russia's permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya.

Sergei Lavrov has a busy schedule planned. On Wednesday, September, 20, he will speak at a meeting of the UN Security Council. The Minister is also scheduled to take part in events within the SCO, BRICS and CSTO. Several bilateral meetings will take place.

In total, Sergei Lavrov intends to hold about 20 negotiations with foreign colleagues and representatives of international organizations.

The minister's speech at the general political discussion of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly is scheduled for September, 23. The Minister is going to speak about the course towards the formation of a fair multipolar world order based on the goals and principles of the UN Charter in the system of international relations.
