Relations between Russia and the Western countries at present are much worse than at the cold war times, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. In his words, there was not such an obsession with Russophobia like it is now. Today it looks like an attempt of genocide by means of sanctions, TASS informs.

The diplomat has pointed out that earlier there were channels of connection between the countries. Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation shared this point of view at the interview to BBC. Its fragment was posted yesterday on April 16.

“I believe the relations between Russia and the Western countries became worse. As there were channels of connection during the cold war and there was not such obsession with Russophobia which reminds of an attempt of genocide by means of sanctions,” Lavrov said.

Sergei Lavrov expressed hope that there are people on the West including people in the state structures who are aware of how serious the present state of affairs is.

Note that Washington is going to introduce new anti-Russian sanctions soon. Official spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova has mentioned that at this US are not content with Russia’s existence at the international arena.
