Musicians from South Korea and Russia won in Tchaikovsky Competition

The results of the International Tchaikovsky Competition have been summed up, TASS reports. Winners were named in six categories.

Lee Yong Eun from South Korea became the best cellist, Russian Maria Zaitseva was second. Another representative of South Korea, Pak Sang Hyuk, closed the top three.

Among violinists, the first place was awarded to Ke Hee Kim from South Korea, second to Ravil Islyamov from Russia, third to Chaowen Lo from China, and Daniil Kogan and Elena Tarosyan from Russia.

Among the vocalists, the tenor from South Korea Song Chi-hoon won, Jung In-ho from South Korea and Russian Maxim Lisiin became silver medalists. The top three was closed by Hong Zhenxiang from China. In the women's category, the Russian Zinaida Tsarenko won the gold medal, another Russian woman Olga Maslova became second, and Albina Tonkikh from Belarus received a bronze award.

The 16-year-old Russian trumpeter Semyon Salomatnikov became the winner of the competition in the brass category. Chinese horn player Jin Zhicheng became second. The third prize was not awarded, in fourth place was French horn player Charles Redelle.

Russian Sergey Davydchenko won the first prize among pianists. Briton George Harliono, Angel Stanislav Wong from the USA and Russian Valentin Malinin shared the second place. Bronze medals were awarded to two Russians - Stanislav Korchagin and Ilya Papoyan.

The name of the Grand Prix winner will be announced after the final gala concert, it is scheduled for July, 1.

Let us remember, 236 musicians participated in the International Tchaikovsky Competition this year. Among them are representatives of 23 countries - European, Asian and others. Competitive events in six categories were broadcasted on the contest website and the VKontakte page
