The Japanese Haiyuza Theater, which is famous for paying a lot of attention to Russian drama and acting school, is closing. The management company said that the theater will operate until the spring of 2025, TASS reports.

The theater is located in Tokyo, it opened in the mid-50s of the last century. According to the head of the management company, Toshihiro Imaizumi, the premises occupied by the creative team are deteriorating. The theater has been under the threat of closure for the past few years, since, in addition to large-scale repairs, the problem of lack of funding remains.

Several well-known directors and actors from Japan were behind the opening of the theater. They used the Stanislavsky system in their work. The actors themselves donated money for the construction of the theater. Chekhov's Seagull remained in the repertoire of the theater for a long time, plays by the best Japanese authors were staged. The well-known Russian actress Komaki Kurihara played in the theater, Sergey Yursky and other Soviet directors worked there.
