Russian theaters from 7 states to perform at festival in Naberezhnye Chelny

The festival of Russian theaters from abroad will bring together creative teams from seven countries, TASS reports. It will be held for the 5th time, this year it will be hosted by Naberezhnye Chelny. According to the organizers, the forum will be held at the end of June. Guests from abroad will take the stage of the Masterovye Russian Drama Theater.

Among the members are the troupes from Abkhazia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, South Ossetia, Kazakhstan, Armenia. The hosts of the festival will also join the participants. The event is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Alexander Ostrovsky. The program will include five productions of plays by the great Russian playwright. 

The Stanislavsky Yerevan Russian Drama Theater, the Khetagurov South Ossetian State Drama Theater, the State Youth Theater of Uzbekistan, the Gorky National Drama Theater from Belarus, the Lermontov National Russian Drama Theater from Kazakhstan and the Iskander State Russian Drama Theater from Abkhazia are taking part in the festival.

The opening performance will be Balzaminov's Marriage, which will be performed by guests from the Armenian capital. All performances will be streamed online. Lectures and master classes are also planned within the festival.

The annual international festival was established on behalf of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and was held for the first time in the Year of the Theater, in 2019.
